Like a number of Uys members I used to be in the military as a pupil pilot in 1968 and served in the SAAF till 1979. Flew Harvards, Impalas, Alouette ii and Alouette iii helicopters. The Super Frelon Helicopter and Canberra Bomber/Reconaisance Aircraft. on 4 August 1980 I was accepted into South African Airways, and am still a pilot with SAA on the Boeing 747-400. Up to date life has been great with lots of experiences interwowen with some diificult and frustrating times...( like all humans) We now life at Melkbosstrand. Thank you to all the people who have made my research possible. Dorathea Margaretha Uys sa vader was Pieter Jacobus Uys, Wiskunde Onderwyser van faam en koshuisvader eers van Steynsrus en later van Kroonstad Hoërskool. Hy het die woorde van KHS skoollied geskryf en die wysie verwerk. Thea was baie geliefd en `n bekende in blomme kringe en uitleg van tuine in die Vrystaat. Sy was van die eerste plaasmoorde in 1975. I am the duaghter of Jeannette Magdeline Uys - who is the daughter of HELENA ELIZABETH and LUCAS JOHANNESS CORNELIOUS UYS, who was son of: DIRK JACOBUS & JUDITH MAGADLENA MEYER. I am not sure if I am no the right track but from family history it goes all the way up in my line as depicted on your history on your home page... it's sometimes a bit unreal to think I could be a part of all of that, but knowing my aunts and many cousins, we are a strong bunch that don't give up or back down for anything... soemthing like our forefathers.
