Those who were military and the Great Trek and those who stayed in the Cape. I seem to be related to Andreas Johannes Uys. He was born in Durbanville and died in Fairlands Johannesburg. Na my militêre loopbaan van 26 jaar en 11 dae, is ek op pensioen in 1993, en het gou in die politiek beland toe Genl Constand Viljoen op die toneel verskyn het. Hy het my versoek om hom by te staan, en nou na 11 jaar is ek steeds die hoofsekretaris van die Vryheidsfront Plus, met hoofkantoor in Centurion, Pretoria. Ek het die grootste gdeelte van my militêre loopbaan as artillerie-offisier in Potchefstroom deurgebring. Ek verskaf graag die volgende oor my eie gesin : Ek is getroud met Helena Isabella Horn, en ons het 3 kinders, te wete Lucy, wat tans saam met haar man Dieter Hofman, in Botswana boer; dan ons oudste seun Hermann, wat tans by die WNNR werk nadat hy 'n doktorsgraad in Fisika by die Universiteit van Arizona, VSA, verwerf het. Ons jongste seun Gerhard, is 'n vryskut Joernalis en ook fotograaf. Baie dankie vir al die informasie wat oor die Uyse ( of is ons eintlik Nijse?) hierbo verskaf word. Like a number of Uys members I used to be in the military as a pupil pilot in 1968 and served in the SAAF till 1979. Flew Harvards, Impalas, Alouette ii and Alouette iii helicopters. The Super Frelon Helicopter and Canberra Bomber/Reconaisance Aircraft. on 4 August 1980 I was accepted into South African Airways, and am still a pilot with SAA on the Boeing 747-400. Up to date life has been great with lots of experiences interwowen with some diificult and frustrating times...( like all humans) We now life at Melkbosstrand. Thank you to all the people who have made my research possible. Dorathea Margaretha Uys sa vader was Pieter Jacobus Uys, Wiskunde Onderwyser van faam en koshuisvader eers van Steynsrus en later van Kroonstad Hoërskool. Hy het die woorde van KHS skoollied geskryf en die wysie verwerk. Thea was baie geliefd en `n bekende in blomme kringe en uitleg van tuine in die Vrystaat. Sy was van die eerste plaasmoorde in 1975.
