Sorry – This post slipped past with all the crazyness of what’s been going on over the past few months. It’s only when I looked at the camera that I realised I had some photos of Tio and Tia visit that I haven’t posted yet.

Tio and Tia poped in for a visit as part of their holiday through Oz and NZ. As you’ll see from the photos we had a awesome time. Hunter Valley, the pool at home and they walked Sydney flat sight seing from Manly to the City.

Trip to the Hunter

I suppose I could go on about the fact that we lost all power to the house on the first night there. I could tell you that the water to the taps the water to the toilets the TV the air-conditioning the ceiling fans the fridge and obviously all the lights in the house depended on that electricity.

But I won’t . Instead I’ll tell you about a beautifully restored farm house in the middle of the Hunter. Undulating green hills covered in vineyards full of grapes that must be close to bursting after all the rain. The odd rabbit hopping around and a few head of cattle grazing at the fence line.

I actually loved the weekend. Braai by candle light and the opportunity to sit and talk with the Hunter and all it’s sounds as back round music.

As we talked I discovered that Anne-Marie has in her lifetime gone from living on a farm where the kitchen and it’s old stove that was stoked 24 /7 and used for heat, ironing the clothes and obviously cooking all the food was the heart of the house. No electricity, outside toilets and bed pans. To now, where I post on my blog to everyone in the world about the weekend.

How far we’ve come in so little time. Just imagine the world my son will live in …
