The Peak and Stanley Market

We have spent the first week cruising the Northern side of Hong Kong island up and down the East – West MTR ( under ground train – awesome ! ). So we thought we’d go and check the other side of the island this weekend and what a great spot.

We took the MTR to central station ( 10 min. ) then a bus over the mountain to the southern coast line ( 30 min ). This is where all the CEO’s live, in houses – not apartments. The bus took us past Repulse Bay, Deep Water Bay beach and onto Stanley Beach. Beautiful little spot, away from all the madness of the northern side of the island,  you almost feel like you are on a different island all together.

Perfect for a nice evening meal or just a relaxing Sunday brunch. Today was cloudy  – So not sure how busy it gets on a nice day. We’ll just have to go back to see.

Not too many photos of the Peak – It was very cloudy and the photos won’t do it justice. So, I take more next time and show you then.

Hong Kong – First week

Just added some more photos ( 10th May 2011 )

We arrived with all 91 Kg’s of luggage in 4 suitcases and 3 pieces of hand luggage :-)

We managed to get to our temporary accommodation in Fortress Hill without any issues and checked into our LITTLE apartment for a bit of rest. I say little – but its really all we need, TV, lounge, dining room , toilet and bathroom. A very small little kitchen and 2 bed rooms. Home for the first month. Very close to the MTR that allows us to be in any suburb on Hong Kong island in less than 20 minutes.

In the first 2 days we have already explored a few of those suburbs. Causway Bay ( Shopping ) , Tai Koo where I work , Happy Valley ( Lots of schools ) Fortress Hill where we currently live , Quarry ( lots of apartments ).

Today we want to go and check out a suburb called Central ( should be a nice park with a playground for Jake )

Tio and Tia’s visit

Sorry – This post slipped past with all the crazyness of what’s been going on over the past few months. It’s only when I looked at the camera that I realised I had some photos of Tio and Tia visit that I haven’t posted yet.

Tio and Tia poped in for a visit as part of their holiday through Oz and NZ. As you’ll see from the photos we had a awesome time. Hunter Valley, the pool at home and they walked Sydney flat sight seing from Manly to the City.

Oupa en Ouma visit for Xmas

We had the pleasure of having, for the first time, Oupa and Ouma with us in Oz for Christmas.

The holiday had many amazing days. We kicked it all off with a great day over at the Vaughan’s for Christmas day. There was food for Africa and the weather allowed for a fun filled day in the pool with a few cold ones.

Boxing day at ours where Armando and fam joined us as part of their Australian adventure. All the usual suspects joined in for a fish pot, some ribs and some awesome desserts left over from the previous day courtesy of Lisa.

Oupa and I had another go at the elusive Marlin on a boat called Broadbill with Ryan and Jon. Yes – this time the old man nailed it and caught a beautiful striped Marlin. Here is a link to the YouTube video.

To round off the year we decided to see in the new year from Taronga Zoo with a beautiful view of the Sydney harbour. A Jazz band and some bevies kept us company through the evening and the world famous fireworks closed off the year.

We also, before the whole Queensland decided to wash away went north for a few days and drove down from Brisbane to Byron bay and got lucky with a few days on the beach.

So all up we had a wonderful December holiday. Thank you so much for making the trip down under Oupa and Ouma. As always we will try and keep you here for longer next time.
